MADONNA: Illness Worse Than We Thought

Madonna is spilling more details about the illness that sent her to an intensive care unit this year — and it seems things were even more serious than she let on at the time.

According to Britain’s Sun, she made the revelation during a show in Paris this week. Madge said, “I was in the hospital. I was in the ICU. My lungs weren’t working, I wasn’t breathing on my own. My kidneys were failing. I was infected with some bacteria that nobody knows about. And there is a 40% mortality rate.”

She was actually unconscious for a time, but adds, “Nobody knew when I would get better. My manager was like, ‘Do you want to go back on the road? Do you want your tour to happen?’ I was breathing oxygen through a [tube] through my nose, I could barely get out of bed to walk to the bathroom and I said, ‘Give me two weeks to think about it.’ You know, I think of myself as Wonder Woman.”
