Some of his tips include:
- Leave earlier to avoid having to speed.
- Be patient on the road
- Do NOT text and drive! (Your attention must be on the road at all times)
- Watch for pedestrians
- If you must stop, pull to the side to avoid causing an accident.
- Do not drop anyone off on the round-a-bout
- Wear your seatbelt and make sure your passengers are wearing theirs as well.
- Practice defensive driving – drive to save lives, save money, and save time by driving carefully to avoid the aftermath of traffic accidents.

Tony Williams began his career in broadcasting in the late seventies. He started out in production and later added “on-air personality” to his resume. When he moved to a different company in the nineties, he also became a programming director. In 2008, he formed Star 106 with Buena Wright, Greg Lampkin, and Brad Hanna.
Tony currently co-hosts Good Mornin’, Dis Mornin’ with Greg Lampkin from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. He is also Star’s programming and production director, but his true passion is production. Two of Tony’s favorite artists are Patti LaBelle and Babyface because he loves old school music.
St. Augustine’s College’s robotics team visited Star 106 to present their robot, Choo Choo. Mr. Duran McNeil, their teacher, will be traveling with his students to Washington, D.C. for a high school robotics competition on July 14th, 2017. Choo Choo is designed to detect water particles. The balls in the video are used to represent water particles. You can see how successful their programming is in the video below.
Fortunately, the Big Red Machine team will be updating us on their competition via the Star 106 app (106Hits). You can download the app for free in the Apple App Store or the Google Play store to stay updated. Star 106 wishes the intelligent students and their teacher the best of luck in the competition.
Here’s a video of Choo Choo chugging around in Star 106:

Green Lightning, St. John’s College’s Solar Car Crew, visited Greg, Tony, and Dwayne in the 106 Hits Studio on Monday, June 26th, 2017. Justyn, Munir, Marcinco, Giovani, and their advisor, Father Shazz Turnquest, represented their hardworking and intelligent team with passion. They spoke about their mission to travel to Dallas, Texas in July 2017 to represent the Bahamas in the Solar Car Challenge. Impressively, Green Lightning is the only team in the region to be invited to the Texas Motor Speedway this year.
In the last year, they received enough sponsors to take on the challenge and build a solar car. However, they lack the funds to transport the team and their innovative solar car to Dallas. The team hopes to raise approximately $200, 000 to support their mission. The Solar Car Crew also aspires to encourage the expansion of renewable energy engineering throughout The Bahamas.
Be inspired and support our students. Visit their website or FaceBook page for more information or to donate to their cause!
Scotiabank representative, Nikera Symonette (right), and Nurse Braniksa Lewis (left) stopped into the 106 Hits studio on Tuesday, June 27th, 2017 to speak with Greg, Tony, and Dwayne about the upcoming HIV Testing Day. The annual event, hosted by Scotiabank, will take place in Rawson Square on Friday, June 30th, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hosts of The Fix, Tessa and Sawyer Boy, will cover the event from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. 106 Hits encourages the public to come out and get tested.
The process takes less than an hour, and there will be counseling provided for all participants before and after testing. The post-counseling process will vary depending on your results. Fortunately, there is no need to fear an injection because all the test requires is a quick prick of the finger.
Join Tessa and Sawyer Boy down at Rawson Square on Friday, June 30th and know your status in less than an hour!
